I’m Laura, a third-year student at UC Berkeley majoring in Cognitive Science, minoring in Data Science, and pursuing the Design Innovation certificate.

Born in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, my journey into design began with bullet journaling and scrapbooking, watching AmandaRachLee videos, and cutting magazines to form my scrapbook pages.

As a first-generation, low-income student, my experiences growing up in Mexico have shaped my perspective and driven me to become a catalyst for change. Design has been more than just a discipline for me but an outlet for impact, creativity, and innovation, a constant that challenges me to think beyond the ordinary and create solutions that uplift communities.

Long-term, I see myself contributing to organizations and experiences that help me rewrite the narrative of my communities.
